2016 has seen a tough fight in the budget segment of smartphones. With the advent of many new companies into the Indian market like Letv, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Huawei (of course this's been around here for quite some time) And the already well known Samsung, Sony, Lenovo etc, the competition was like cut throat. (We can safely exclude Apple from this list for obvious reasons!)
It's not so surprising to see a mobile these days with a full metal body, full HD display and even a finger print scanner and all this for just under 10k ! I'll try to make my list as relevant as possible. And mind you, this is only my opinion and yours may vary...
Note: Best prices may vary. It's better to buy when a sale is on.
#1. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3:
Sold over one million handsets in India, this is probably the best from Xiaomi so far.

#5. Samsung Galaxy On8:
Samsung is struggling hard these days specially in the mid range segment where it used to rule over just until 2 or 3 years ago. It has been desperately releasing series of 'Js' and 'Ons' one after another almost to the confusion of the consumer. Anyways this particular mobile attracted me for its decent specs and pricing, well balanced. So let's see...
Specs:
- 5.5 inch super amoled display with res of 1080x1920 (401ppi)
- Android 6.0 marshmallow
- Samsung's own Exynos 7580 octa core CPU clocked at 1.6 Ghz

Pros:
- Highly optimized Exynos chip set for fluid performance
- Storage expandable up to 256 GB
- Good Cameras both rear and front
- front flash for selfies
- Vibrant Super Amoled display
Cons:
- Slightly overpriced in my opinion
- No fingerprint sensor, no gorilla glass
- 16 GB storage is not so cool for the price

Best price: Rs 15990/-
A few other good enough choices:
Letv Le eco 2; Xiaomi Redmi 3s Prime; Lenovo vibe k5 plus; Moto G turbo edition etc
